See who passed their motorcycle driving test today------
No not the puppy dog. The one hiding behind the puppy dog. My hubby. He finally got a day without rain so he could go take it today. My brother rode over to the test place with him with his bike. Larry needed a licensed rider to ride with him to the test. It was a short 30 minute test and only cost $25.00. If he had taken the test here in town it would have cost $75.00. But the drive 12 miles was worth the $50.00 savings.
So to celebrate Larry having his bike license we rode into town and ate out tonight at the Jade Restaurant. The gal that works there is from China and when she seen us with our helmets she told us that in China where she comes from that's all they drive.
So I look forward to many rides this summer.

Beautiful day......
We got the landscaping timber we needed to put in front of the house to redo the flowers and now all we need to do is get it cut.
Our neighbor is going to be giving us some of his strawberry plants this year so I am really going to be enjoying them. He gave us some of the strawberries from them last year and boy were they good. I love strawberries.
Won't be long and I will be able to transplant my tomato plants into their pots for the summer. I am doing upside down plants this year with marigolds on top. I have started the marigolds also and they will be ready when the tomatoes are. I just have to wait until all this rain decides to quit.
Well I hope you had a nice day also.
God Bless,
Christina

Dump Cake and Other Sweet, Easy Treats
Yellow cake mix goes on sale all the time where I live. For under $10, you can usually score 15 or more boxes! This is great if you’re making cakes, but what if you just don’t have an occasion for frosting a celebration dessert?
Growing up we ate “dump cake” quite often. Ignoring the name for a moment, dump cake is delicious. The best part is that it takes no baking skill or more than 7 minutes to make. And most people have everything they need to make one hiding in their pantry. The main ingredient: Yellow cake mix. Here’s a classic recipe that will aim to please:
INGREDIENTS
- 1 (29 ounce) can sliced peaches, drained, juice reserved
- 1 (6 ounce) package peach flavored gelatin mix
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup water
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Place peaches in bottom of 9x13 cake pan. Sprinkle dry peach gelatin over peaches. Sprinkle dry cake mix over gelatin. Cut up butter and distribute over cake mix. Pour 1 cup of reserved peach juice and 1/2 cup of water over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until the top is browned.
Can’t get much more basic than that, can it? For some variety, try a different canned fruit and pudding combo (apples, pears, mandarin orange, cherries or even pumpkin!) You can top it off with whipped topping or ice cream. No one will ever know you didn’t even have to mix it!
There are also some very delicious and easy cookie recipes that use yellow cake mix as the main ingredient. Because you don’t have to mess with sifting flour or melting butter, this is totally the way to go. Check out my favorite cookies made from yellow cake mix:
INGREDIENTS
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats (or instant oatmeal, same thing)
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup yummy stir-ins of your choice (pecans, walnuts, chocolate chips, raisins, etc.)
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Stir together all ingredients. Spoon 1 teaspoon drops of dough onto baking sheet (ungreased).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes, or until golden brown and not gooey in the middles.
Cheap Chili Tips
Secondly, when you make it, don’t spend a lot of money on the meat. I came across a great post that suggests you get the butcher to grind up chuck roast or 'frozen [turkey] rolls in the meat section of the freezer'. The person also suggests that you try pork butts:
"My favorite money-saving alternative for making my award winning chili is ground pork butts. Pork butts can be found on sale all the time dirt cheap. They make great tasting 'hamburger'. They have just the right fat content, perfect for this application. Next time you see pork butts on sale at that rock bottom down and dirty price, scarf up a bunch of them and ask the butcher to grind them for you and fill up the freezer. Ground pork butts make great hamburger and can be used in just about any application that ground beef is used in."

Homemade Instant Oatmeal Packets
Scoop 1/2 cup portions into separate ziploc baggies. Flavor each one (MIX INS BELOW), then seal and shake to mix. You can mark each one with a perma marker if you'd like.
ADD INS:
Cinnamon Raisin: 1 tsp sugar, 1 Tbsp raisins, dash of cinnamon.
Brown Sugar Spice: 1 tsp packed brown sugar, a dash each of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, & clove.
Apple Pie: 1 tsp apple pie spice, and 2 Tbsp chopped dried apple.
Home-Made Non-Stick Spray
Here is a tip worth mentioning that not only saves money, but is a healthier alternative to those non-stick cooking sprays made with propellants.
This tip is so simple, it's insane! Simply purchase a plastic spray bottle from the dollar store, and fill with your favorite oil. To that, add a teaspoon of water. This has helped keep my oil pumping out more easily. VOILA, you have a convenient spray for fry pans, baking dishes, or just spraying meats before adding your favorite rubs, or adding to salads for a song! You are not only saving money, but added fat calories to boot!
This also comes in handy for in-between oil purchases when running low.

Got nothing accomplished so far today.
I've been up since 8am. & have gotten nothing accomplished. I've been twittering, checking all my emails and going back and forth between message boards looking up answers for my wireless router-connection problems. I need to find out how I can make sure no outsiders can gain access when I am using my wireless router. My book for it didn't have any extra details except for the ones to get it hooked up and running.

What is the origin of the Easter bunny?
Like the origin of Easter, the origin of the Easter Bunny has roots that go back to pre-Christian, Anglo-Saxon history. The holiday was originally a pagan celebration that worshipped the goddess Eastre. She was the goddess of fertility and springtime and her earthly symbol was the rabbit.
Thus the pre-Christian Anglo-Saxons worshipped the rabbit believing it to be Eastre's earthly incarnation.
When the Anglo-Saxons were converted to Christianity, the pagan holiday, which occurred around the same time as the Christian memorial of Jesus' resurrection from the dead, was combined with the Christian celebration and given the name Easter.
Originally, there were some very pagan practices that went along with the Easter celebration. Today, Easter is often commercialized, with all the focus on eggs, the Easter bunny, etc.
Because of this, many churches are starting to refer to it as Resurrection Day.
Bichon Frise 10 Commandments
I have to put this on here because I have one of these dogs and he is the love of my life along with my Chihuahua.
Thou shalt feed me today more than thou didst yesterday.
Thou shalt teach me with food - not big sticks and loud voices.
Thou shalt walk with me every day - despite thy favorite TV program.
Thou shall not buy furniture that I cannot sit on.
Thou shalt not pay attention to anyone else but me - lest I feel un-wanted.
Thou shalt love me to death - even when I bark all night.
Thou shalt not have a Cat with ATTITUDE and CLAWS.
Thou shalt not start the car until I am in it.
Thou shalt not hide the food.
Thou shalt obey the above without question lest I POOP on the neighbors lawn and promote community strife.
Crocheted Doll Bed Pillows
I don't know about you but I just love these Dolls. I had one when I was a child and of all my dolls she was my favorite. She was blue and white and had ruffles everywhere. I love crocheting but this is one thing I haven't tried to conquer yet. I am not sure I could ever get her just right for my satisfaction.
But I do give it up to the ones who make these and aren't they just lovely???
Homemade Powdered Sugar
Well worry no more. I came across this easy to do recipe for making your own.
*1 cup granulated sugar
*1 teaspoon cornstarch
Put both into your blender & blend for around 1 minute. The sugar will then be powdered & ready to be used in that recipe you have started on!
This is so easy to do & if I have extra left over I just put it in a ziplock bag for storing until I need it next time. Comparing the price of the store bought powdered sugar at around $2 or so, it is much cheaper to make it at home.
Give this a try and see what you think.

Cooking for Less
I received a flyer that listed the power usage in the home. It listed the oven and stove top very high in energy usage, and slow cooker and toaster oven a lot lower. I had already been using a slow cooker, but I started using our toaster oven for small roasts, baked potatoes, baked apples, small casseroles, etc. With just two people in the house, I can do our full dinner in the toaster oven and hopefully save some electricity and money. Between the toaster oven, slow cooker, and electric George Foreman grill, I rarely use the full-size oven anymore and hope to see the savings in our electric bill. All of these rated lower in electricity usage by my electric company than the oven and stove top.
The number of weeks you can receive emergency unemployment benefits has been extended
The stimulus does not provide additional weeks of benefits for people who use their 33 weeks of emergency unemployment-compensation benefits; it just expands the dates that the program will be available.
A federal law passed last year provides an extra 20 weeks of emergency unemployment compensation to workers who exhausted their regular unemployment benefits, plus an additional 13 weeks of extended benefits for residents of states with high unemployment rates (contact your state unemployment-benefits office for details about your state's rules).
The emergency unemployment-compensation program was scheduled to expire on August 27, 2009, and the last day to apply for benefits was originally set to be March 31, 2009. As a result of the stimulus law, unemployed people who exhaust their regular state benefits now have until December 31, 2009, to apply for extended benefits and can receive compensation until May 31, 2010.

Did you know that April 1st. was *Atheist Day*?
In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days..
The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,
"Case dismissed!"
The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do.
Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."
The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned."

How To Make Homemade Laundry Detergent
They made a YouTube video on how to make homemade laundry soap.
I have been making this kind of soap for a number of years now and it cleans my clothes very nicely. The only thing I do differently is I don't use the fels naptha soap. I just use regular bath soap like Irish Spring(I like the smell of this). Then I just put 1/3-1/2 cup in when I do my wash and it won't suds up like your regular soap, which is good- that means less suds to get rid of. This works great for people with allergies. Then I use white Vinegar as my fabric softener. YES I know it smells- but the smell doesn't come off on your clothes.
The cost for this will be way less per load then your other laundry detergent and you can get the white vinegar on food stamps if you are on them.
This is a great money saver.
The New Barbie Doll
Now this is the way Barbie should be. This is the way most girls are today. Let's be realistic. Girls don't go *OUT* to play anymore. They sit on their butts and text everyone, talk on their cell phones from a very young age. Set in front of the TV screen playing games or play them on the computer. Or they are on the computer talking to their friends. Kids today are nothing like we were when we were kids. What happened to playing *hide-n-seek?* Chasing a ball around trying to get it into the basket? Or even trying to play a game of baseball? Something to get some exercise. Granted we didn't know we were getting exercise at the time. We were just outside having fun. Girls played in the mud making mud pies. Now a girl wouldn't be caught dead with her hands dirty. Heck they don't even dirty their hands doing the dishes-they put the dishes in the dishwasher.
Well I must still be in the dark ages because I AM the dishwasher!
This is the reason why most kids get lured into chat rooms and don't know who they are talking to. They set on their butts and would rather talk to people miles away that they don't know rather than go outside and find a friend they do know to do something constructive with. And parents have the gull to say-I DON'T KNOW HOW MY CHILD GOT IN CONTACT WITH THAT KIND OF PERSON! It's simple- you're not watching them and try to be the parent you should be. It's really quite simple. Our parents did it. And didn't we turn out pretty swell?
Thank Rose for this great picture.
Vermont legalizes gay marriage with veto override
The Bible plainly says it is wrong.
That man shall not lay with man as he does a woman. And woman shall not lay with woman as she does a man. That they will die by their own BLOOD.
There are so many things that are going on now days that are against the Bible. I pray for those who don't listen and heed to the Bible, but in the end it is up to them when it is their judgement day.
