The Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the people who treat you right. Forgive the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a wonderful, garbage-free day!

New Pledge of Allegiance

WRITTEN BY A 15 yr. Old SCHOOL KID IN ARIZONA :

New Pledge of Allegiance (TOTALLY AWESOME) !
Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most Public schools anymore because the word 'God' is mentioned....

NEW School prayer
:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

Planting Tomatoes upside down.

Here's how it works:

You will need a hanging planter with a hole in the bottom about the size of a half dollar, or a little larger. Plants should be about 5 to 6 inches tall.

Start with an empty pot. Put the plant into the pot upside down, being careful to tuck the leaves gently through the hole. Hang up the pot and fill it to the top with soil. You can make sure the plant stays in the pot by using a coffee filter with a cut to the center and it tucked around the roots of the plant and the potting soil put on top of that. Water your plant daily. Making sure not to over water. You should plant some flowers on the top that repel insects and to make the pot look better. Marigold plants are just right for this. Because Bugs hate Marigolds. They are a natural deterrent to bugs. So you won't have to use pesticides on your Tomato Plants.

Another thing you can do to help retain the water and not have to water so often is put the grass clippings on top of the soil. Plus if you water the soil and not the leaves you aren't as apt to get insects that are thirsty and hungry for the plant.

The tomato plant will grow toward the sun until it starts to get tomatoes on it and then the weight will make it hang down. Also if you are going to hang this near your deck or house make sure it is far enough away so you have room for you plants to spread out and not touch your deck or house.

I hope you have fun and enjoy your bumper crop. Tomatoes aren't the only thing you can grow upside down. Try other vegetables to.

Extend the life of your razor blades.

Extend the life of your razor blades
Especially those Venus Gillette blades that run about $8 or more dollars for a refill.

By soaking razor blades in rubbing alcohol while not in use, it thoroughly cleans the blades and coats them, keeping the blades sharper, cleaner, and smoother longer.

With the three and four blade systems out today (at a cost of usually $2.00 or more a cartridge), this method will lead to fewer blade changes, saving you money on replacement blades.

Home Made Oxiclean

Home Made Oxiclean

Here's an easy money saving idea. Make your own Oxiclean!

1 cup hot water
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide.

Mix together & soak clothing for at least 30 minutes up to overnight. Then wash as usual.

This works great. If in doubt test fabric in an inconspicuous spot.

His Love,,,,,,,

This was sent to a group I belong to today http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Crochet_Swaps_Galore/ and I just want to share it with all of you.
I completely agree with all of it.
Thank you Tammy for sharing it with all of us. I hope you don't mind me sharing it here so others can feel his love.

Salvation is the free gift of God through Jesus Christ. Eternal life, deliverance from death and condemnation, cannot be purchased for any earthly sum, but it is yours for the taking, completely free of any charge. This is because Jesus Christ has already paid for you, for all of us, by His death on the cross in our place. By His sacrifice, He ransomed us, paying the price for all the sins we would ever commit, and thus opening up the door to paradise. If you would like to drink the water of life, it is available to you, right now, and without any cost. Simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. As ambassadors of Christ, as though God were urging you through us, we beg you, be reconciled to God!
(2nd Corinthians 5:20).

Let your heart not be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.

In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you.

I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you,

I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:1-3

For God loved the world so much, that he gave His only beloved Son, in order that whoever believes in Him might not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16

For you have been saved by (God's) grace through faith (in Christ);
and this did not come from you - it is God's gift.

Nor did it come from what you have done, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

For there is no deliverance through any other person,
nor has any other name on earth been given by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved."
Acts 16:31

The testimony of scripture is abundantly clear. All that is needed is for you to accept the gracious offer of a loving God, who has already done everything for you. What more could He do than to send His precious Son to die in your place, so that you could live forever with Him? All that is needed is for you to accept, to place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, to believe in Him, and eternal life will be yours. All God asks is that you not reject this His ineffable gift.

And the Spirit and the bride say "Come!" And let the one who hears say, "Come!"

And let the one who is thirsty come;

let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
Revelation 22:17

A BRITISH EXAMPLE FOR THE WORLD

'London Times' Obituary

An Obituary printed in the London Times........ Interesting and sadly rather true.

'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

Knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

Common Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student, but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilt a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents - Truth and Trust, his wife - Discretion, his daughter -Responsibility and his son - Reason .

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

I Know My Rights

I Want It Now

Someone Else Is To Blame

I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

MAGNOLIAS...... ....By Edna Ellison

MAGNOLIAS...... ....By Edna Ellison

I spent the week before my daughter's June wedding running last-minute trips to the caterer, florist, tuxedo shop, and the church about forty miles away.. As happy as I was that Patsy was marrying a good Christian young man, I felt laden with responsibilities as I watched my budget dwindle . . So many details, so many bills, and so little time. My son Jack was away at college, but he said he would be there to walk his younger sister down the aisle, taking the place of his dad who had died a few years before. He teased Patsy, saying he'd wanted to give her away since she was about three years old!

To save money, I gathered blossoms from several friends who had large magnolia trees. Their luscious, creamy-white blooms and slick green leaves would make beautiful arrangements against the rich dark wood inside the church.

After the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, we banked the podium area and choir loft with magnolias.. As we left just before midnight, I felt tired but satisfied this would be the best wedding any bride had ever had! The music, the ceremony, the reception - and especially the flowers - would be remembered for years.

The big day arrived - the busiest day of my life - and while her bridesmaids helped Patsy to dress, her fiancé Tim walked with me to the sanctuary to do a final check. When we opened the door and felt a rush of hot air, I almost fainted; and then I saw them - all the beautiful white flowers were black. Funeral black. An electrical storm during the night had knocked out the air conditioning system, and on that hot summer day, the flowers had wilted and died.

I panicked, knowing I didn't have time to drive back to our hometown, gather more flowers, and return in time for the wedding.

Tim turned to me. 'Edna, can you get more flowers? I'll throw away these dead ones and put fresh flowers in these arrangements.'

I mumbled, 'Sure,' as he be-bopped down the hall to put on his cuff links.

Alone in the large sanctuary, I looked up at the dark wooden beams in the arched ceiling. 'Lord,' I prayed, 'please help me. I don't know anyone in this town. Help me find someone willing to give me flowers - in a hurry!' I scurried out praying for four things: the blessing of white magnolias, courage to find them in an unfamiliar yard, safety from any dog that may bite my leg, and a nice person who would not get out a shotgun when I asked to cut his tree to shreds.

As I left the church, I saw magnolia trees in the distance. I approached a house...No dog in sight. I knocked on the door and an older man answered. So far so goo d . . .No shotgun. When I stated my plea the man beamed, 'I'd be happy to!'

He climbed a stepladder and cut large boughs and handed them down to me. Minutes later, as I lifted the last armload into my car trunk, I said, 'Sir, you've made the mother of a bride happy today.'

'No, Ma'am,' he said. 'You don't understand what's happening here.'

'What?' I asked.

'You see, my wife of sixty-seven years died on Monday. On Tuesday I received friends at the funeral home, and on Wednesday . . . He paused. I saw tears welling up in his eyes. 'On Wednesday I buried her.' He! Looked away. 'On Thursday most of my out-of-town relatives went back home, and on Friday - yesterday - my children left.'

I nodded.

'This morning,' he continued, 'I was sitting in my den crying out loud. I miss her so much. For the last sixteen years, as her health got worse, she needed me.. But now nobody needs me. This mo rning I cried, 'Who needs an eighty-six-year-old wore-out man? Nobody!' I began to cry louder. 'Nobody needs me!' About that time, you knocked, and said, 'Sir, I need you.'

I stood with my mouth open.

He asked, 'Are you an angel? The way the light shone around your head into my dark living room...'

I assured him I was no angel..

He smiled. 'Do you know what I was thinking when I

Handed you those magnolias?'

'No.'

'I decided I'm needed. My flowers are needed. Why, I might have a flower ministry! I could give them to everyone! Some caskets at the funeral home have no flowers. People need flowers at times like that and I have lots of them. They're all over the backyard! I can give them to hospitals, churches - all sorts of places. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to serve the Lord until the day He calls me home!'

I drove back to the church, filled with wonder. On Patsy's wedding day, if anyone had asked me to encourage someone who was hurting, I would have said, 'Forget it! It's my only daughter's wedding, for goodness' sake! There is no way I can minister to anyone today.'

But God found a way. Through dead flowers.

'Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.'

If you have missed knowing me, you have missed nothing. If you have missed some of my emails, you may have missed a laugh.

But, if you have missed knowing my LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST,

you have missed everything in the world. May God's blessings be upon you.

THIS IS SO TRUE, BEING NEEDED IS SO UPLIFTING TO EACH OF US.

This story is too beautiful not to share with all those you love, know, or care about.

Vicks Vapo Rub..........

During a lecture on Essential Oils, they told us
how the foot soles can absorb oils. Their
example: Put garlic on your feet and within 20
minutes you can ‘taste’ it.

Some of us have used Vicks Vapo rub for years for
everything from chapped lips to sore toes and
many body parts in between. But I’ve never heard
of this. And don’t laugh, it works 100% of the
time, although the scientists who discovered it
aren’t sure why. To stop night time coughing in a
child (or adult as we found out personally), put
Vicks Vapo rub generously on the bottom of the
feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even
persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in
about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many
hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is
more effective in children than even very strong
prescription cough medicines. In addition it is
extremely soothing and comforting and they will
sleep soundly.

ATHEIST HOLY DAY

You must read this.............a proper decision by the courts..........for a change.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY In Florida,
an atheist created a case against the upcoming
Easter and Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays."The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."
The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "
The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day.
Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'
Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore,
April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned.

You have to love a Judge that knows his scripture!

Sending you an early Valentines.

Where's the pork?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/ynews_pl238

Wed Feb 4, 4:32 pm ET

Last week, the House passed the then-$819 billion stimulus bill — without a single Republican vote. GOP senators vowed to oppose it as well, calling it a colossal waste of money, packed with pork and non-essential spending.

NBC broke down some of the bigger numbers in the bill, for example: $275 billion in tax relief, $90 billion for infrastructure, $79 billion for school funding, etc. Sounds good, right? But in the fine print, there's a lot of proposed spending that may raise a few eyebrows. In an interview with President Barack Obama, CBS' Katie Couric called him on some of the more unusual proposals:

- $6.2 billion for home weatherization

- $50 million for port modernization and water and wastewater infrastructure needs in Guam

-$100 million for children to learn green construction

Obama defended the weatherization spending by emphasizing the long-term effects:

"We're going to weatherize homes, that immediately puts people back to work and we're going to train people who are out of work, including young people, to do the weatherization. As a consequence of weatherization, our energy bills go down and we reduce our dependence on foreign oil. What would be a more effective stimulus package than that?"

Fair enough. But what about the $800 million for Amtrak? Or the $150 million for the Smithsonian Institute? And there's more: So much more, in fact, that the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has set up a website (http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1873901,00.html) that allows users to comb through the more than 900-page-long bill. You decide: Economic stimulus or wasteful spending?

- $198 million for U.S. military benefits for Filipinos who fought for the U.S. during WWII

- $75 million for "smoking cessation activities"

- $87 million for the "design of a new polar icebreaker"

- $335 million for HIV/STD screening

- $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees

All projects worthy of money, to be sure, but are they worthy of being part of an economic stimulus plan that's now expected to cost U.S. taxpayers $900 billion?

However, both sides have signaled a willingness to concede. In an interview with CNN, Obama said he would consider cutting items that "may not really stimulate the economy right now." And in the spirit of bipartisanship, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) are working together to compile a list of recommended cuts, with a goal of reducing the bill by $200 billion.

But as the economy continues to shrink and layoffs pile up by the tens of thousands, the nation may not have the patience for cross-party squabbling and finger-pointing. At the White House today, Obama summed it up:

No plan is perfect, and we should work to make it stronger ... Let's not make the perfect the enemy of the essential. Let's show people all over our country who are looking for leadership in this difficult time that we are equal to the task."

====================================================

Reading the Stimulus

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1873901,00.html

The proposed $825 billion stimulus package currently making its way through Congress will be the most expansive spending plan the government has ever proposed. It's expected to cut taxes, fund everything from highways to college education, extend COBRA health insurance for the unemployed, and...give $150 million to the Smithsonian Institution?

That's what the folks at www.readthestimulus.org found out, anyway. Spearheaded by conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, www.readthestimulus.org allows anyone to read a searchable PDF version of the House of Representatives' stimulus bill (when the Senate version is released, it will also go on the website). But the bill is 334 pages long and growing every day — with amendments and changes, the current version is up to 941 pages. Nobody wants to sit down and read nearly a thousand pages of legislation for fun. That's where www.readthestimulus.org gets all Web 2.0 on Congress: it's a forum where anyone who wants to can comb through a few pages of the bill and record their findings in a Google document. Volunteers can do as many or as few pages as they like. "We wanted people to know where their money was going," says Rob Bluey, director of online strategy at Heritage. Bluey says that while the government has made PDF versions of bills available online for a while now, the documents are never searchable and they are hard for regular citizens to digest. "The government wasn't doing it, so we stepped in to fill that void." (Read "How to Spend a Trillion Dollars")

The site has only been live for a week and already its 14 volunteers — some are Heritage employees, others work for nonprofits, and still others are just passionate people with extra time on their hands — have finished their first run through of the bill. While readthestimulus.org enters the second, fact-checking phase, some volunteers have taken on side projects of their own. Kristina Rasmussen, director of government affairs at the National Taxpayers Union, has been cross-referencing the federal agencies mentioned in the bill with U.S. Office of Management and Budget's program assessments and has found a number of programs that are receiving money despite poor performance reviews.

So what's actually in this legislative monstrosity? $800 billion goes a long way, and it seems like everyone is getting something. There's $2 billion for renovating public health care centers, $1 billion for the Head Start program, $800 million for Amtrak, $150 million for the Smithsonian Institution, and — wait a second — $14 million for the Accountability and Transparency Board members' travel expenses? There is also a clause that requires all infrastructure projects to be made with U.S. steel, unless it ends up costing 25% more than foreign materials. "Is that the best deal for American taxpayers?" asks Rasmussen, "making people pay more for these infrastructure projects?"

Whatever your thoughts — maybe using American-made materials will create jobs, or maybe it's just another way for Congress to bring home the pork — readthestimulus.org is pleasantly agenda-free. Users can comment on individual bill pages, and while most commenters swing right (renewable energy investments really get people fired up), the project's goal is to simply get the information out there. "The whole project is frankly in some sense stupid," says Rob Neppell, president of new media development company Kithbridge, who runs the website. "It's stupid because we're doing a lot of reengineering, we're trying to actually extract real information out of the text. It shouldn't require a nonprofit company to do the government's work for them."
