Missed at the gun range..

We had been going to the gun range every other weekend the last few months. But today I didn't feel like going so Mr. L. went by himself today. All he heard was "where is your other half"? And other such questions. He said he had never felt so unwelcomed.
I told him it wasn't that he was unwelcomed, it was just that they were used to seeing us together.
He shoots a .40 cal Smith & Wesson and I shoot a .9 mm Smith & Wesson. We both do very well. We don't do much as enjoyment so that is our latest.
It doesn't cost much and we can keep up on our shooting and it lets us compete against each other. Since we do like to see who can out shoot whom.

This is my other gun, a Kel-Tek.

COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!

COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the

father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in

Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's

subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session

of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It

needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every

sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous

words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal.

There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness..

The following is a portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts

of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of

violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the

deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not

be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in

the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the

National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the

murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly

fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of

the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to

represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible

for my daughter's death.

Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had

anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a

spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much

of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing

fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that

expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,

Your words are empty air.

You've stripped away our heritage,

You've outlawed simple prayer.

Now gunshots fill our classrooms,

And precious children die.

You seek for answers everywhere,

And ask the question "Why?"

You regulate restrictive laws,

Through legislative creed.

And yet you fail to understand,

That God is what we need!

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit.

When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void

that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual

presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's

history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a

historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor

God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when

something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately

look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more

restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties.

We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been

stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who

spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our

own hearts.

"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two

friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I

defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person

in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine

High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers

offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with

a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate

with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you

sincere challenge..

Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!

My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not

allow that to happen!"

- Darrell Scott

Do what the media did not - - let the nation hear this man's speech. Please send

this out to everyone you can.

God Bless

Sorry I've been MIA

I have been dealing with things here at home and this blog was the last thing on my mind. I hope you understand.
But now that things have settled down I should be able to get back to things as normal.
I have added a little addition to our family. A toy Chihuahua. Her name is Prisca. She will be 5 months old this month.
This is how small she was when we brought her home. She now weighs in at 2 lbs. We have been dealing with worms with the poor thing. The people we got her from obviously never wormed her and she was full of them and we can't seem to get rid of them. We are on shots and more meds. at the present time. She eats like a little piglet. She was the runt of the 2. She just loves our other fur babies, although they didn't take to her right off. But they are all best buds now.
Well I have things to do today but I just wanted to get back on and say "HI" to everyone and let you know I am still here and will try my best to post as often as I can.

Can't find shoes that fit comfortably

I just got these this past weekend. I know everyone loves them but I must have the hardest feet to find shoes for. I have about 30 pr. of a shoes. From Air Walk to these and I can't seem to get comfortable shoes. With these, the backs are to high and it rubs on the back of my heels when I walk. I have blisters in just 3 days.

Had the granddaughter over the weekend

It was a blast. While she was here she wanted to go through the pics I had in my camera so I took the SD card out and put it in the laptop so we could see the pics in a bigger view. Well that was a mistake. We came across some videos papa had made over the last couple years. Nothing bad mind you. She liked one in particular. She suggested I put it on youtube. So I said sure if you help me. Since I had never put one on there before. I have looked at plenty and I even have one blogger I just love that puts her blog videos on there. I had often wanted to ask her how she did that but never gotten around to it.
So we tried as we may to upload our video. We tried and we tried.
No luck. It took us an hour and finally we got it figured out. It was uploading but it was going into Windows Media *playlist* instead of the Videos area.
It takes me a bit but I finally get things figured out. So now we have this video on youtube. Boy I sure didn't know my voice sounded that bad once it was recorded. Or maybe I just sound like that when I talk to my dogs. I do have a tendency to baby talk around them, since I spoil them a lot.
Mr. L. was not as happy when I told him he was a celebrity. But he has come to terms with it as I caught him telling his friend about it last night.

Hope you enjoy it. As I said it was not meant for anything special. We were just being ourselves. As you can see we love our dogs and we treat them as one of the family.

Home remedies- NOT always the best..

Well let me just tell you that some times you have to just live with what ever is bothering you.

I have plantars warts and I had went to the Dr. and had them removed once before many years ago. Let me tell you, I did not like having to walk around on crutches for weeks after. Since he did both feet at the same time. YES I had them on both feet.
Well I have them on both feet again. So this time I decided to do some internet searching and see if there wasn't some home remedies to get rid of them. Well there was. I thought - good I can do this.
It seemed simple enough, it said all I had to do was soak a cotton ball with vinegar and then put duck tape over the area night and day for a week. Then the area would be soft enough to *dig* down and remove the core of the plantars wart. W E L L let me tell you they forgot to mention it not only softened the area of the plantars  wart but the whole area where you put the cotton and then some. You were to rub the area (scrub- as you might) to get the dead skin off before each new application. Well in doing so you are rubbing off a few layers of skin.  Well today when I went to take off the tape I not only got tape but skin too. My soles of my feet are raw. From the last time til now my skin loosened up so badly it literally just came off with the tape. There was nothing I could do about it.
So now I have patches of raw feet. Not to mention sore feet. So I have to make sure I have on socks all the time so I don't get my feet dirty and infected.
yup-- I did myself more harm then good. Some home remedies are just not good. Now I have to walk softly til my feet heal.
Plus on top of it all I still can't get to the core of any of the planters warts.
 boo hoo
Some things are better left for the Doctors......

I have been so busy.

I have been busy as of late. We had to replace our washer and dryer. Dryer went out a few months ago, which was okay. I could hang the clothes outside then just fluff them in the dryer a bit and they were good to go. But then the washer decided to quit on us. Boy trying to find a set now days at a reasonable price is hard. We did get a set finally. Then we got sold a bad bill of goods. They guy sold us a GE set, mind you we love the dryer but the washer was a different story.
It was what they called a low agitator washer and water sensing machine. If you have never had one of these I strongly suggest you DO NOT get one. With out the agitator your clothes do not get washed well, then on top of that the water sensor does not fill up the machine full of water like you would expect. So your clothes don't always get fully wet.
Long story short I complained and after 2 weeks I got a new washer- another GE but with 5 water levels and a regular agitator.
Now I am happy.
But what has kept me so busy is I have been making my jewelry and getting it listed.
Here are just some of the new pieces I have listed as of late.

 Bird Watching Necklace

Blue Mother of Pearl Silver Earrings

Brown Mother of Pearl Silver Earrings

Blue & White Mother of Pearl Silver Earrings

Brown & White Mother of Pearl Silver Earrings

 Caged Fushia Earrings

Memory Wire Bracelet, Swarovski Crystals, Pink-Hearts

 Memory Wire Bracelet Pink-Blue

 Memory Wire Bracelet Sea Shells

White Mother of Pearl Silver Earrings

 Memory Wire Bracelet Gold-Silver

So I hope this finds you all well.
I have been reading your blogs just haven't had the time to post myself, but
hopefully I can get back to that now that things have slowed down a bit.
I can't believe school has started already for some. My grand kids start the first week in September.

Oh happy day, oh happy day..

I have a NEW vacuum and I couldn't be happier. We were talking about getting a new one. So a week ago when we were at Walmart we noticed this Bissell that said it was super good for getting up dog hair. WELL that caught our eye. As we have 3 little fur babies and 2 of them shed like crazy. The other one is non-shedding. So we looking it over and compared the bagless of it to the buying of a filter every few months to the cost and figured why not give it a try. We could always bring it back if we did n't like it RIGHT?
WELL let me tell you I couldn't be happier with it's performance. I was figuring I would get much picked up from it since I had just swept the day before-- well was I so very, very wrong. It filled the cup reservoir past full with just my living room. I felt ashamed.
But the dust, dirt and dog hair it picked up actually made me feel good. So needless to say we have NOT taken it back. I vacuum every 3 days and I love to see the stuff it picks up. It is a little hard to push and pull but that lets me know it is sucking up the dirt, dust and dog hair. Plus with me being able to see it being sucked up seems to help.
I had always had a Dirt Devil before but I think I am sold on a Bissell from now on. Don't get me wrong I am not dissing on Dirt Devil or trying to sell Bissell, I am only giving my opinion here.
But I do have to tell you what I think is working best here. The attachment that comes with it to pick up the hair off the furniture is great. No more worries of company leaving with dog hair on them. Or me worrying of wearing black and having dog hair showing up on it. I am just so thrilled with this machine.

This was just from my living room alone.

I am so thankful

I am so thankful for all of the friends I have made along the way as I have blogged. I enjoy visiting your blog and getting to know you. I feel happy when you are happy and sad when you are sad. I enjoy making some of your recipes and making some of your crafts.
I have learnt many helpful tips along the way. You have helped me through my sad encounters and shared my joys with me. For that I thank you.
I am glad I have gotten to know you. I know I don't always leave a note when I visit your blog. But know that I do visit. There are times when I just don't have the words in my head to say anything. But a bit of my heart is left there when I have visited. Know that.
Have a blessed night,
Christina

Nature at it's best

This is what I seen when I was visiting a friend yesterday. We were setting on her front porch enjoying the breeze and I happened to look up and seen this in the corner.

The momma bird was passing back and forth in the front lawn with food in her mouth waiting until we went in so she could feed her babies.
Sorry I couldn't get a pic of the momma feeding her babies.

Free DIY Wood Working plans

I don't know about you but we love to build our own projects. It gives us time together and we are more appreciative of the outcome. We love to make things for the outside of the house. We are looking into putting a light weight porch roof on the house next. So I have been doing searches online for plans/instructions.
Along the way I came across this site--- buildeazy.com where they have a lot of plans you can just follow or buy from them if you'd rather. I found many plans that I have sent to myself for us to think about in the near future.
So I wanted to share the site with my friends. I know there are some of you who would rather do your own projects as to having to pay someone else and not get it done the way *you* want it done.
That's the way I am. I want it done my way and I hate to tell someone I don't like the way they did it.
So I hope you find a project or 2 that you might like on this site. They even have a page here-- http://www.buildeazy.com/freeplans.html where you can choose to search the plans by photos or by Alphabetically listed or by Category.

How much do you owe your mom for giving birth to you

Now you can give back to your mom what she deserves as pay for what she

would get if she were to get paid for birthing you.

The American Coalition for Labor has this
                              compensate mothers for their labor
chart. Where you can figure out what you would owe your mom and even
email it to her. It's just for fun of course.
I tried it and I came back with only owing my mom $11.26. That's even with
inflation. But it was fun to do. What a different thing to give your mom on
Mother's Day.

Free Address Labels

I don't know about you but I still use these. Yes I still like to send letters and cards the *old* fashioned way- by the post office.

But I also like to be lazy and ad a nice return label. I really hate to write anymore than I have to. Seems my handwriting gets worse every year.
So now you can have some mailing labels (return labels) for FREE from
               The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

I hope you enjoy your labels as much as I do and you can have either the Roses or American type of labels.

Blasts from the past

Another way to spend a few minutes remembering the past. It may even put a smile on your face. It is a whole page of themes of the old TV shows. I had fun clicking on them and seeing if Mr. L. could remember them. What a way to spend time with your spouse.
Have fun and you may just find out something you didn't know about your spouse when they were younger.
                                           I did.

From one Christian to another

I have never done this on my blog before but I feel this is a major need.
I know of a family whom has a little girl who was in a car accident and she was hurt very badly. They have used all their insurance coverage they have and are going in debt. I want to help. The only way I can think of is to get some visitors to my ecrator site in hopes they will find something they can't do without and I will donate all the funds toward her care and helping the family.
If I can get all my friends/followers to share this on their blogs so others can see this I would be so appreciative.
I talked this over with the family and they asked that I not mention their name as they didn't want it getting out that they were having trouble making ends meet or taking care of their daughter's medical expenses. They are a proud family.
As many of us are but in a time such as this sometimes a little humility never hurts.
But it's not for us to judge.
Can we come together and help not only this family but this sweet 4 year old little girl???

Thank you all for being my dear friends...

Christina

You may lose your Internet in July.....

That is what they are saying if your internet has been hacked by international hackers.

But if it's fine you will get this with a green outline around it when you go to this link-->> http://www.dns-ok.us/
You can go here to find out more about it-->>  http://www.dcwg.org/detect/

I just read about it today in the newspaper. So I wanted to pass it along to my friends. I checked my computer and I am fine. Thank goodness. I would hate it if I lost my internet. I would be lost without it.
So please check yours.

A Letter from "Mom n Dad"...

My child,

When I get old, I hope you understand 'n have patience with me
... In case I break the plate, or spill soup on the table because I’m losing my eyesight, I hope you don’t yell at me.
Older people are sensitive, always having self pity when you yell.
When my hearing gets worse 'n I can’t hear what you’re saying, I hope you don’t call me ‘Deaf!’
Please repeat what you said or write it down.

I’m sorry, my child.
I’m getting older.
When my knees get weaker, I hope you have the patience to help me get up.
Like how I used to help you while you were little, learning how to walk.
Please bear with me, when I keep repeating myself like a broken record, I hope you just keep listening to me.
Please don’t make fun of me, or get sick of listening to me.

Do you remember when you were little 'n you wanted a ballon? You repeated yourself over 'n over until you get what you wanted.
Please also pardon my smell. I smell like an old person. Please don’t force me to shower.
My body is weak.
Old people get sick easily when they’re cold. I hope I don’t gross you out.

Do you remember when you were little? I used to chase you around because you didn’t want to shower.
I hope you can be patient with me when I’m always cranky. It’s all part of getting old.
You’ll understand when you’re older.
'n if you have spare time, I hope we can talk even for a few minutes.
I’m always all by myself all the time, 'n have no one to talk to.
I know you’re busy with work.
Even if you’re not interested in my stories, please have time for me.

Do you remember when you were little? I used to listen to your stories about your teddy bear.
When the time comes, 'n I get ill 'n bedridden, I hope you have the patience to take care of me.
I’m sorry if I accidentally wet the bed or make a mess.
I hope you have the patience to take care of me during the last few moments of my life.
I’m not going to last much longer, anyway.
When the time of my death comes, I hope you hold my hand 'n give me strength to face death 'n don’t worry..
When I finally meet our creator, I will whisper in his ear to bless you. Because you loved your Mom 'n Dad.
Thank you so much for your care.
We love you. ! ♥
