Google's GrandCentral is launching Google Voice.
For basic phone service, you could use GrandCentral, now owned and operated by Google. You can receive a free local phone number and gain the ability to tie it in with your other phone numbers, like your cell phone. This way, a single call to that number will ring your cell phone so that you can take the call wherever you are. You can have a call ring simultaneously to different numbers, or one at a time. There's also a voicemail system, live screening, e-mail or SMS text message alerts for voice mail, call buttons for your web site, custom greetings, visual access to voicemails via your mobile phone, recording of phone calls, the ability to switch phones mid-call, and more. All this for free.
